B.O.O.M!
Round 4, Week 4: The J Bangin' Brew vs. AJ Jordan The Crescendo
Congratulations to Steel Keys & Brass! They collected the most votes in our online Battle of Original Music this past week.
This week features two more of the best original acts that have thus far submitted a photo, an original mp3, and filled out our rigorous questionnaire. Check out their sound below and cast a vote for the act you prefer. Each week, the popular online vote decides who proceeds to the next live show (Saturday, April 9 at Nietzsche’s) where four acts will square off in a no-holds-barred extravaganza of local original music.
That night at Nietzsche’s (21+), each audience member will be given one ballot on which to cast his or her vote for his or her favorite band. At the end of the night, when the tally is completed, only one will have won the right to perform in the Artvoice BOOM Grand Finale—the battle royale, winner-take-all live blowout where one talented act will walk away with unspeakable prizes, a handsome wad of cash, and the eternal privilege to proclaim themselves Artvoice BOOM Grand Champions!
This week, we give you The J Bangin’ Brew and AJ Jordan the Crescendo. Take a moment to meet them and listen to them on this page. Finally, cast ONE vote for the one you like best. Through the magic of the digital age, we will tabulate the voting and announce this week’s winner on-line and in next week’s print edition.
A word of warning however: Bands attempting to stuff the ballot by submitting multiple votes will be rooted out using the most sophisticated intelligence software available on the black market. (Well, okay, that’s a bluff, but if you try to fool our IT guy you will be caught. Just ask the FBI…he’s that good. And if that happens, you will be disqualified with nowhere to appeal our decision.)
These are the last two entrants for this installment of BOOM. Next up is the live show at Nietzsche’s April 9, before the Grand Finale at the Tralf on Friday, May 13. So check them out, and may the best band win!

Band members: Joe Ackermann - vocals, rhythm guitar / Josh Tobias - vocals, lead guitar / Justin Schneider - drums, percussion / Tom Fritz - bass guitar When/where did the band form? Fall, 2010, in Buffalo, NY. You might like us if you like: O.A.R., Sublime, Slightly Stoopid, Pepper Best show played: A recent show at the University at Buffalo. It was a great crowd, a lot of our friends were there and a bunch of them had our bands t-shirt on. It was great to have that much support as a new rock band in Buffalo. Why you should win the Artvoice.com Online Battle of Original Music: We all share a passion for writing and playing music for people to enjoy and connect with. Our new Acoustic Rock sound combined with an awesome live show is one of a kind and a great addition to the local music scene. All of our hard work deserves recognition and the title of the best original band in Buffalo! Website: www.reverbnation.com/thejbanginbrew |
Band members: A. Jordan - recording artist, author, designer / C. Lampke - instrumental composer, engineering When/where did the band form?AJ Jordan The Crescendo Buffalo New York’s First Original Underground “Darker Side” of Hip Hop Entertainment Since 1998. You might like us if you like: Insane Clown Posse, Anybody Killa, Tech N9ne, Kottonmouth Kings, Ice Cube, Eminem, Cypress Hill, Aesop Rock, Limp Bizkit, Mac Lethal, E-40. Best show played: Audiences during such high-energy performances at over one hundred concert venues across the East Coast and Midwest, such as the historical Peabody’s in Cleveland Ohio and the now abandoned Showplace Theater in Buffalo NY. Why you should win the Artvoice.com Online Battle of Original Music: Because the name AJ JORDAN has and always will be a staple in the Buffalo New York community. When you hear the name “AJ Jordan” you know through your friends’ friend’s friend who heard from that one girl that he might have been a creeper. However, we’ve been working long & hard to ensure the people of our proud city will not be disappointed when the next album is released, and as usual everyone will be bombarded with spam filling your inboxes and invading the streets with various propaganda. I’ve personally waited patiently for over 10 years to receive some credit and recognition for representing my hometown while surviving as a starving artist with a passion for his craft! THE J BANGIN' BREW!!! They rock live and dont use auto tune
Patrick 27 Mar 2011, 11:48
J Bangin' Brew... no contest. Fred Durst is no longer relevant for a reason. I'd give the DJ the finger and leave the tailpipe of a party if that song came on.
astrungo 27 Mar 2011, 11:52
J Bangin' Brew are the freshest thing to come out of Buffalo.
Zach 27 Mar 2011, 11:57
Welcome to the party? How about welcome to a nice swift kick in the ears is more like it or atleast that's how my ears felt after listening. The J Bangin Brew all day kidskis!
Brian 27 Mar 2011, 11:59
The J Bangin' Brew has got this rapped up... finally some good kick ass local music. I do respect that the other guy is following his dream to become an insane clown posse, but who listens to that stuff? If you ask me this one is an easy decision.

Vote The J Bangin' Brew all the way!!
Paul 27 Mar 2011, 13:12
J bangin crew for sure...What's not to love? Sick local musicians who put something together that sounds great and have only been around for less then a year. If they already sound that good imagine in a couple years. Also there are already enough juggalo's in this world we do not need anymore. Props to Jordan for going hard but nobody wants to hear about death, blood, destruction and jnco jeans. How about we all enjoy some good music and our time on this amazing planet. J Bangin' Brew all day!

Hands-down voting for The J Bangin' Brew! Good job! Well done! It was a joy to hear your track! Thank you. Am looking forward to hearing more from you guys...I've added you to my play list. I wish you much success!! What a shame that AJ Jordan The Crescendo's hard work is wasted on promoting his disappointments & violence. This only perpetuates intolerable degradation of life. ...AJ, please turn the page...& bring our attention to proactive living! Thanks for the opportunity to hear your work. Good luck.

DUDE, THAT GUY SUCKS. The J Bangin' Brew is the best band going today. If I owned a record label, I would sign them ASAP. Country Livin for life.

AJ Jordan once friended me on facebook we had no mutual friends save for artvoice, and had no idea who he was. I saw he made music and I give any artist a chance esp. local artists (even if their music sucks as in this case) so I added him. Within a week we had 54 mutual friends (every female on my friends list) he actually took the time to add only the girls on my page as friends and had my inbox filled my female friends on my friends list saying what the hell do you know this creepo he keeps msging me and posting really weird stalkerish crazy stuff. I deleted him immediately after. So yes his creeper comment is funny...
