Boo, Artvoice
I applaud any story that promotes the concept of eating locally, after all it’s not only healthier, but provides economic stability to our region’s agriculture sector. However, with over 8,000 farms in Western New York, prime soil ratings, and a growing number of CSAs, urban farms and farmers markets, I cannot fathom why Artvoice would choose to dedicate column inches to a story focusing on farmers from Rochester and the Hudson Valley (Harvesting New York). Even if one were to argue that the story (based on its title) included all of New York State, it is irresponsible of the author (and Artvoice) not to devote some effort to shedding light on the talented growers here in our own community.
