Libertarians and gold standard fanatics, prepare to be blinded by his light: The godfather of the Tea Party movement, Congressman Ron Paul, will speak this Friday, August 5, 4-6pm, at the East Aurora American Legion Post, off of Center Street.

This week, Erie County Executive Chris Collins was a guest on the radio show hosted by the Partnership for the Public Good, on WUFO-AM 1080. Next Tuesday, August 9, at 1pm, Collins’ challenger, Erie County Comptroller Mark Poloncarz, will appear on the show.

• Also on Tuesday, August 9, Assemblyman Vito Lopez, chair of the Assembly’s Committee on Housing, will preside over a public hearing on affordable housing issues in Buffalo and Western New York. That takes place in Common Council Chambers on the 13th floor of City Hall, beginning at 11:30am. • This is further down the road, on August 18, also in Buffalo Common Council Chambers: The state task force charged with redrawing district lines for the State Assembly, the State Senate, and the US House of Representatives will hold a public hearing.
