LGBT Honeymoons
by Kevin R. Kitchen
While reading Ms. Greenberg’s article on honeymoon destinations in the last edition of Artvoice, I was extremely troubled when reaching the end of the article I read that she recommends Jamaica as a possible honeymoon destination for same sex couples. Jamaica has long been a bastion of homophobia as evidenced by the beatings and even murders of its gay residents. In my opinion, it is ill advised to suggest to those not familiar with the country’s attitudes towards gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people, that they visit this country.
