Poetry

Every Time I Go Home

in memory of Mark Freeland

Every time I go home I know

there are eyes that have never seen you

ears that have never heard your name

Every time I go home I know

street corners cry for you

bar stages weep for your song

Every time i go home I know

the city becomes a little lonelier without you

Every time I go home I know

the poem I gave you may be gone forever

Rose Gold

Rose Gold

and stone Sea Foam glass building Blue

Street poems

hidden concrete pages

too heavy to hold or lift

but clear enough to walk through

and over

without sinking

quick-blinking in the rain.

Bypass (featuring Cassidy Jasinski)

I do not learn, but still the time does pass.

Pass or fail, we all die in the end, didn’t they tell you?

You still pass out, pass on, it’s so passé.

The only path to immortality is to pass the torch.

We must pass along what we know.

But don’t let time pass you by they repeat,

The passing lane is just a euphemism for those who pass away,

The fools who wait for the storm to pass over.

I do not learn, but I am given no free pass.

Do not pass go, do not collect two-hundred dollars, go directly to the grave.

Your maker will pass judgment upon your soul.

Have I learned what I must know to pass the test?

I did not learn, the time did pass,

But cheaters sometimes pass the class.
