Showing the Grain

If there are 13 ways of looking at a blackbird, there are 113 ways (and more) of looking at a grain elevator, as attested through three separate photographic exhibits all on the same theme (of looking at Buffalo grain elevators) at the CEPA galleries in the Market Arcade Building. Note to National Trust for Historic Preservation conferees: You don’t want to miss these exhibits or the Market Arcade Building at 617 Main Street, half a block east of the Hyatt hotel.

Cracking the National Trust

A movie about Buffalo, featuring Buffalonians in the main roles (and also, for that matter, the secondary roles) will be premiered in conjunction with the National Trust for Historic Preservation annual conference here next week and weekend. The film, entitled Buffalo Unscripted, will be screened at the Market Arcade Film and Arts Center next Friday (October 21), and will be free and open to the public.

Buffalo Uncrypted

Torn Space Theater’s second annual costume ball and fundraiser, Prom of the Dead, will be “helled” October 22 at the Dnipro Ukranian Cultural Center, 562 Genesee Street, to roughly coincide with this spirited month’s culmination on All Hallows Eve.

Going to the Country

As the cool autumn winds begin to blow, preparations are again underway for the 23rd Annual Allegany Artisans Open Studio Tour, to be held October 16 and 17, 10am-5pm. This is a banner year, with 47 artisans exhibiting and demonstrating in 38 different studios, which are scattered throughout the scenic rolling hills of Allegany County.
