Tuesday's Election Day

Tuesday's election day …so don’t forget to vote. Here are some items to consider between now and then:

Bruce Jackson Honored by UB Humanities Institute

Two weeks ago, our cover featured a color photograph taken by Jack Delano for the Farm Security Administration in 1941. The photo is part of an exhibit at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery called Full Color Depression: First Kodachromes from America’s Heartland, curated by Bruce Jackson, SUNY Distinguished Professor and the James Agee Professor of American Culture at the University at Buffalo.

Public Art on Perry Street

A huge artwork recalling the elegant old original Michigan Avenue lift bridge over the Buffalo River will be unveiled Saturday (November 5) on the west end of John McKendry’s Hi-Temp Fabrication building at 79 Perry Street.

Bank Transfer Day

On Saturday, November 5, the Occupiers of Niagara Square will join Buffalo First!, the Coalition for Economic Justice, the Clean Air Coalition of Western New York, PUSH Buffalo, and a host of other activists to promote Bank Transfer Day: a movement encouraging consumers to move their accounts out of the big banks that the Occupy movement blames for the financial crisis an into local credit unions.
