Love, Loss, and What I Wore

In 2009, Love, Loss, and What I Wore opened off-Broadway to rave reviews and nestled in for a prolonged stay with rotating casts of five New York stars. Cast members read an intimate collection of stories by Nora Ephron and Delia Ephron about how clothing and accessories trigger memories to tell funny and often poignant stories about the lives of women.

Performers who appeared in New York included a who’s who, from Kristin Chenoweth, to Tyne Daly, to Fran Drescher, to Carol Kane, to Donna McKechnie, to Jane Lynch. In Buffalo, the cast will feature Kerrykate Abel, Kelli Bocock-Natale, Caitlin Coleman, Loraine O’Donnell, and Joy Scime.

Here we enter a world in which the story of a pair of cowboy boots becomes the tale of being underappreciated in a relationship, a dress can evoke memories of losing your mother, a purse can signify the social pretensiousness of a friend, and a brassiere can signify dignity in the face of breast cancer.

Love, Loss, and What I Wore continues through June 2 at the BUA theater, (119 W. Chippewa Street, 886-9239).
