Buffalo Irish Festival

Enter the Haggis, performing Friday night on the Guinness Stage

It’s time to dig out your ghilles and press your Sunday best, Buffalo, as the 31st Annual Buffalo Irish Festival is already upon us. A Queen City institution (especially for those of you from the south), this year’s festivities look as good as they ever have. In the musical department, all manner of Irish tunes will be represented, from the traditional stylings of the Dave North Trio and the Dady Brothers to the decidedly more modern fare of groups like Enter the Haggis and the Glengarry Bhoys, to name just a handful. As per the usual, this and other entertainment will be performed on three stages (two of which, unsurprisingly, are named after the very best in Irish alcohol). Throw in some traditional favorites like the Parade of 32 Counties, dances, book signings by some of Ireland’s greatest living authors, and a raffle for a trip for two to Ireland, and you’ve got a weekend that’s sure to stack up to the most boisterous pubs this side of the Atlantic. Festivities begin on Friday (August 24) at 5:30pm and run through Saturday (starting at 12:30pm) and Sunday (starting at 12pm).
