Billy Elliot

It’s been a fabulous week of theater-going. The national tour of Billy Elliot the Musical has streamlined production qualities but a lavish abundance of talent.

Crowns

The gospel musical by Regina King about African-American church ladies and their relationships to their hats, Crowns, proves to be a perfect vehicle for the Paul Robeson Theatre company.

The Fox on the Fairway

The Fox on the Fairway may well be the finest work I’ve seen at Kaleidoscope. This screwball comedy by Ken Ludwig, author of Lend Me a Tenor, provides a strong cast to prove their comic chops.

Next to Normal

Like WOW! You wouldn’t expect a loud Broadway rock musical about a woman with bipolar disorder to scale down to such a jewel of intimacy, but Fortunato Pezzimenti’s production of the Tom Kitt/Brian Yorkey musical Next to Normal is just about perfect in every way.
