The Boy Chums in the Forest
The Boy Chums in the Forest is the title of a photography and video exhibit opening Saturday, June 15, with a reception 7-10pm, at Hi-Temp Fabrication, 79 Perry Street, in the Cobblestone District. The artist-chums are Bob Collignon, Eric M. Jensen, and Charles Waldorf.
Their subject matter is the great outdoors, though with attitude. Hunters and fishers proudly displaying their avian and piscine quarry, so man over beast, but also, beast over man, a Jensen photo, for example, of a little statue group of a pair of deer, in hunting caps, “shooting,” with camera, a human hunter they have apparently just dispatched.
Straight pictures and satiric, including diorama-like scenes, and manipulated photos to look like paintings. A muskie, I think it is, looking mean and no wonder, with a portion of lure and line hanging out of his mouth. And artifacts of the hunt, like a photo of a relief sculpture, it looks like, of a rhino facial bone structure with signature double horns.
A couple hundred photos and videos in all. The display remains up through the next week.
