Last Sunday evening, a collective of street artists began work on a mural tribute to the late comix artist Spain Rodriguez, on the side of the Holley Farms market at the corner of Allen and College Streets. That piece, as well as others throughout Allentown created by the Allen St. Street Artists Collective, will be unveiled September 6,7, and 9. The members of the collective, which is sponsored by restaurateur Mark Goldman, are Ian De Beer, Max Collins, Johnny Choe, Julian Montague, Patrick Gallo, Dave Chino, Septorhead, and Nate Peracciny. Goldman is sponsoring the project, in part, as a tribute to his late brother, Tony, a proponent of street art in New York City and Miami. “What my brother Tony demonstrated by his visionary curatorial skills is that street art, done at its best and most sophisticated level, has the power to transform and empower communities,” Goldman said.
