	I was not here then…in other cities but not here. But judging from these street shots, Buffalo could have been any of those—Baltimore, Washington, DC, Philadelphia, Chicago. The street scenes were much the same, especially the cultural signifiers of the time: Mature ladies wore hats with veils, gloves, and cloth coats; the men, suits, white shirts, thin ties, and stingy brims. Storefronts crammed everything they had to sell right up to the windows.
	Daniel Galas and Leif Low-Beer at Buffalo Arts Studio by Jack Foran
	The gargantuan centerpiece of the current Buffalo Arts Studio exhibit is a roughly 40-foot-long sculptural representation of the railroad Central Terminal building, recumbent, by artist Daniel Galas. Galas specializes in depictions of old buildings—he has a score or more of linocut prints of some of Buffalo’s finest—that reveal their basic aesthetic features, but also their rather worse-for-wear condition, translating in many cases to imperiled by the wrecking ball.

	My ex-mother-in-law worked next to Devora Primack in the old Social Security office in downtown Buffalo. She use to say even the Marx Brothers had nothing on the daily comic chaos of working in the SSA.
