I just want to say thank you, your staff, and Leif Reigstad for writing and publishing an extremely well written article regarding the local Yemen soccer teams and soccer community (“Welcome to the Cage,” Artvoice v12n41). I have played soccer in the Cage for the past 20 years, and I managed a soccer team in the Buffalo and District Soccer League for 15 years, and your article captures the intensity and the positive impact that soccer has in the Yemen community. And, by association, it captures what it is like for other immigrant communities and ethnic groups to form a soccer team and then play games throughout the region to both compete and to interact with other groups. To me, this is what makes amateur soccer so important. Soccer brings people from around the world together. I hope that you continue to pursue and publish articles like this in the future because it certainly helps inform the general public what is going on in the nearby world around us.
