It’s already the end of October and once again you don’t know what you’re doing for Halloween? It’s okay, AV has you covered. We’ve compiled a list of opportunities to break out that ingenious costume you’ve been hot-glueing since July.

With Halloween falling on a Thursday, there are countless opportunities to make the most of the holiday. If you’re feeling brave, try a genuinely haunting ghost tour, an opportunity to learn eerie tales of Buffalo’s past. The more skittish types may want to opt for the slightly less spooky Halloween sea lion show at the Aquarium of Niagara.

There’s something for trick-or-treaters for all ages, so get out and explore the city on its most chilling week.

Hotel Lafayette
Thursday, October 24 Evil Buffalo Ghost Stories Told at the Hotel Lafayette 7:30-9pm. (391 Washington St.)

Experience Buffalo’s mysterious history and spookiest tales at the hotel. You may even meet two resident ghosts that have never checked out. $15

Friday, October 25 Amherst Street Séance 6pm-1am. 464 Gallery, Black Rock Kitchen and Bar, Casey’s Tavern, Rohall’s Corner. (400-600 blocks of Amherst St. and the sidewalks between.)

A séance with spirits of a different kind, seeking to better connect with fellow neighborhood watering holes. Sponsored by Magic Hat Brewing Company with performances by Buffalo’s 12/8 Path Band. At 6pm the evening will begin with the third annual multimedia party at 464 gallery featuring live music, installations, outdoor projections, and more. The Rocky Horror Picture Show
The Rocky Horror Picture Party 10pm. Riviera Theatre (67 Webster St.)

Rocky Horror Picture Party featuring DJs, dancing, cash bar, and costume contest, performances from Eye Candy Burlesque and the Ladies from Club Marcellas. An interactive Rocky Horror Picture Show movie experience begins at midnight. $20/$17/$5 movie only. rivieratheatre.org.

Saturday, October 26 Alternative Brews Halloween Party 9pm, Alternative Brews (3488 Sheridan Dr.)

A Halloween party sponsored by Bell’s Brewing Company of Michigan, featuring a costume contest with $50 3rd place, $100 2nd place, and $200 first place prizes. Live music by Vincent James Explosion featuring members of JJ Swing Band.

Halloween at the Hamlin House 10pm. (432 Franklin St.)

Hosted by Old Friends New Faces, a Halloween party featuring live performances by Souled Out, including a horns section and DJ sets from Spooky Business. Food available all night from Knight Sliders and costume contests at midnight. Cash bar, $20 ticket includes beer.

Halloween Happenings at the Aquarium of Niagara 4-7pm. (701 Whirlpool St.)

Any child dressed as a sea creature or any marine animal will be admitted free. Event featuring trick-or-treating, a scavenger hunt, a sea lion show, crafts, and more. $5, aquariumofniagara.org.

Maddtat2 11th Annual Halloween Party 10 pm. Ohm Ultra Lounge (948 Main St.)

Music by the Poor Boys, Mic and Life, Short Moscato, Belt Jones, and more. Featuring $500 dollars in prizes for best costume, raffles, and giveaways all night. A horror art gallery will be curated by Mark Madden.

Sunday, October 27 Safe Trick-Or-Treat 1-3pm. (Elmwood Ave.)

Small businesses on Elmwood Avenue will participate in the Elmwood Village Association’s event. Parents are encouraged to bring kids 10 and under in costume to collect candy from local businesses with Get Your Treats Here signs in their windows.

Wednesday, October 30 All Hallows Eve 6-8pm. The Buffalo History Museum (1 Museum Court St.)

Halloween pumpkin carving, ghost tours, spooky crafts, pipe organ music, scavenger hunts, and model trains. Costumes are encouraged. $10/$5 members. General admission for adults, free for members.

A Talking Plowed Beggar’s Banger Costume Party 9pm. Dukes Bohemian Grove Bar (253 Allen St.)

Presented by Duke’s and DTR. Featuring $200 costume prizes and DJs.

Beggars Night Halloween Costume Party 10pm. The Bend (256 Allen St.)

Sponsored by by Red Bull featuring music by local alternative rock band, Ruckkus with costume contests, prizes, and giveaways.

Live Cinema Costume Party with Squeaky Wheel and Sugar City 8pm. Allen St. Hardware Cafe (245 Allen)

In the back room of Allen Street Hardware featuring a screening of The Fall of the House of Usher with a live soundtrack composed and performed by Kevin Cain. Event followed by a Halloween dance party featuring Sugar City DJs. $7/free for Squeaky Wheel members.
