When I first returned to Buffalo from Washington DC, I could count the number of people I knew on one hand. Kevin Connor was among the first new people I met. “Dying is easy, comedy is hard,” any number of great performance artists have been said to have said on their deathbed, going back to the Romantic era Shakespearean actor Edmund Kean, forward to Stan Laurel and Groucho Marx. Yes, going places is just what you’ll want to do in your new Lexus GS. As Rick Merlino, sales manager at Northtown Lexus, pointed out before this week’s test drive began, “It has all of the amenities. Of course, what would you expect in a $57,000 car.”

“The trucks full of paperwork come every day,” wrote The Washington Post in March, down a country road in Boyers, Pa., north of Pittsburgh, and descend “into the earth” to deliver federal retiree applications to the eight “supermarket”-sized caverns 230 feet below ground where Office of Personnel Management bureaucrats process them—manually—and store them in 28,000 metal filing cabinets.

ARIES (March 21-April 19): Freedom is the most important kind of joy you can seek right now. It’s also the most important subject to study and think about, as well as the most important skill to hone.
