ETC:

AMERICAN GRAFFITI (1973)—George Lucas’ heartfelt tribute to his high school days didn’t so much invent fifties nostalgia as capitalize it, so he’s not entirely to blame for “Happy Days.” The intervening histories of the film’s once-fresh cast (including Richard Dreyfuss, Ron Howard, Paul LeMat, Charles Martin Smith, Cindy Williams, Suzanne Somers and, if you can spot him, Harrison Ford) makes it look rather different than it did forty years ago. Lockport Palace

THE DEAD (1987)—John Huston’s final film, a masterful adaptation of the James Joyce short story, may also be the last Buffalo Film Seminar presentation to be screened at the Market Arcade. Starring Anjelica Huston, Dan O’Herlihy, Donal McCann, and Donal Donnelly. Market Arcade

THE GODFATHER PART III (1990)—Is it time to give Francis Ford Coppola’s much-maligned sequel another look? If you’re of a mind to, here’s your chance. Starring Al Pacino, Andy Garcia and Diane Keaton. Screening Room

SUPER DUPER ALICE COOPER—Documentary about the singer who has been bringing shock rock to world audiences since the late 1960s. Reviewed this issue. Screening Room.

WORD WARS (2004)—Documentary about competitive Scrabble players preparing for the national tournament in San Diego. Presented by the Hubbard Film Society. Sun 4 pm. Parkdale School Auditorium, 141 Girard Ave., East Aurora
