Thursday, May 29

GAY 5K RUN

Run starts at 6:30 pm. Location & Raceday Registration: May 29th from 4:30-6:00 pm at Soho Burger Bar (64 W. Chippewa Street). Race packet pickup is the day of the race only. Registration Fee: $25

Participants are encouraged to don their gay apparel, with rainbows, drag and more, but straight allies are encouraged to slip on those running shorts as well. The 3.1-mile run begins at the corner of Delaware and West Chippewa and snakes through Niagara Square before continuing down South Elmwood. Runners will then wrap around the Erie Basin Marina before returning to Franklin Street, running north to the finish at West Huron. The run will be followed immediately by a post-race celebration at Soho Burger Bar where each participant will receive a complimentary beer and burger sliders (or veggie sliders).

CHROMA: ART OPENING

6 - 10pm. Glow Gallery (224 Allen Street). Admission: A suggested $3 donation is appreciated.

2014 Artists include: Stephanie Dubin, Cristiano F. Lopes, Gerald Mead, Thom Neill, Brent Ricci, Dana Tyrell, Kevin Whalen, Marcus L. Wise, and more. Guests 21 and older will receive complimentary champagne.


Saturday, May 31

DYKE MARCH

Line-up begins at 4 pm / Step off is at 5 pm

The Dyke March is an annual Tradition. The march begins at Kleinhans Music Hall and heads east on North Street.

Registration: All Dyke March participants must register online by clicking here. Registration is free and open to the public.

The March will step-off promptly at 5pm at Kleinhans Music Hall and proceed east on North Street, south along Elmwood Avenue, turn east onto Allen Street and travel through Allentown. The March completes at the Allen Street Festival, a block party on Allen Street between Franklin and Pearl. March participants will have free admission to the Allen Street Festival.


Saturday, May 31

ALLEN STREET FESTIVAL

6 – 10pm. Allen Street, between North Pearl and Franklin Street. Admission: $3.

Allentown staples, the Alison Pipitone Band will perform, along with Shevy & The Puls, ABC DJ and more for the fifth annual . Plus food vendors, street art and activism. Hosted by Jamie Doktor of The Stripteasers.


Sunday, June 1

PRIDE PARADE

Time: Step off is at 1:00 pm

The annual Buffalo & WNY Pride Parade has a new route this year. For the first time the colorful and fun parade, featuring floats and performances from dozens of different organizations, will begin at the foot of Elmwood Avenue at Forest Avenue. It runs all the way down Elmwood Avenue before ending at the corner of Elmwood Avenue and Allen Street. Awards are presented each year for outstanding entries.The parade is free to attend and open to the public.


PRIDE FESTIVAL

1 – 7pm. Canalside (Prime St, Buffalo, NY). Admission: $5.

This is the main event! This year’s Mistress of Ceremonies, Bianca Del Rio (see cover story) will perform at the 23rd annual Pride Festival, this year at Canalside. The festival will feature live entertainment by R&B singer, DEV, and Toronto “soul rock” band The Clicks. There will also be family activities, food and gift vendors, a bar, a retro dance tent and information tables from local organizations and businesses.
