The Elmwood Avenue Festival of the Arts Celebrates 15 Years

EAFA at 15

This year marks the fifteenth anniversary of The Elmwood Avenue Festival of the Arts, and promises once again to deliver an energetic weekend of art and music in the heart of the Elmwood Village. If you’re one of the many who hit the Elmwood Strip for your shopping and browsing needs, there’s no shortage of interesting and colorful wares ready for sale. More than 170 artisans and craftspeople, many of who reside in the Elmwood Village, will be setting up shop and selling their work in a variety of mediums including ceramics, jewelry, paintings/drawings, photography, digital media, toys, and wood crafts.

After you’ve shopped your heart out, see over 50 performances across three stages, with performances from Configuration Dance Theatre, and Nimbus Dance among others, and music from the likes of the Bloodthirsty Vegans, George Caldwell Trio, Zak Ward, Randle and the Late Night Scandals, and the Latin Jazz Project. If you love a good Cajun zydeco dance party, and who doesn’t, C’est Bon Cajun Dance Band and Black Rock Zydeco will be rocking like it’s Mardis Gras on Saturday at the St. James Stage (6:15-8:30). Don’t forget to check out Cultural Row, located on Breckenridge Street, and Environmental Row on Auburn Street, with over 50 community organizations on-hand to share information about enriching our community. The always popular Kidsfest Tent will have the little ones busy with activities and kid-friendly performances throughout the weekend. Chow down on local offerings from Lloyd’s Taco Truck, Black Market Food Truck, Sun Restaurant, Jewel of India, the Lexington Cooperative Market, and many more.
