Curtain Up King and Queen

Artvoice will continue a tradition by crowning a Curtain Up! King and Queen on Curtain Up night at the Act III party on Main Street. This is a tongue-in-cheek theater industry event. The winner will be selected on the basis of a free-wheeling game of Broadway Beer Pong. To be eligible local actors, designers, directors, stage managers, playwrights, publicists, and other miscellaneous adult show folk must have local theater credits and/or be scheduled to be credited in a theater program this season.

Last year’s winners were actors Matthew Iwanski and Connie Caldwell who triumphed in a bruising competition. Queen Connie, defending her crown from the previous season, made an overhand slam dunk into the Christine Baranski cup. King Matthew won, bouncing off Tom Dudzick and into Pete Gurney. (For the record, the cups contain water, not beer).

This year, the prizes are truly fabulous: dinner for two at Russell’s Steak’s Chops and More, and a night at Salvatore’s Grand Hotel including breakfast, courtesy of the King of Hospitality, Russell Salvatore. Whoo hoo! See you on Main Street near the tent at about 11pm.
