Star Trek: The Next Generation/Doctor Who: Assimilation Squared
by Michael Hoffert Jr.
Scott and David Tipton (Authors), J.K. Woodward (Illustrator)
> Review by Michael Hoffert Jr.
The worlds of two of science fiction’s most beloved franchises come together for the first time in this action-packed graphic novel. The Cybermen have teamed up with the Borg to take complete control of the universe and only The Doctor and the crew of the USS Enterprise-D can stop them. Taking the best elements of both properties and weaving them together seamlessly, the writing team of Scott and David Tipton deftly keep the voices of the characters true and consistent. The most impressive thing about the book, however, is the beautiful painted artwork of J.K. Woodward, who manages to capture the likenesses of the actors perfectly while delivering a level of excitement and dynamism not typically seen in painted sequential storytelling.
