This year, Jay Pharoah returned for his sixth season of Saturday Night Live. Pharoah is most known for his wide array of celebrity impressions including President Barack Obama, Will Smith, Denzel Washington, Stephen A. Smith and Kanye West.

THU 7/9 Frame and Mantle

Mohawk Place | 8pm | $5

What do you get when you combine alternative rock, indie rock, post-hardcore, punk rock and ambient sounds? You get a collection of songs from the Erie, PA based band, Frame and Mantle. They’ll be performing at Mohawk Place this Thursday night along with Zealot and Elemantra.

Allentown at the corner of Allen & Park St | 6-9pm

During the Allentown First Friday Gallery Walk, the Allentown Association will present an Ice Cream Social featuring hands on art, free ice cream, music, hula hoops, open galleries, and more.

Buffalo’s indie/rock group Bearhunter will be hitting it of at Nietzsche’s Friday night. They’ll be performing with Johnny Nobody and Handsome Jack. If you like classic indie/rock and 3-piece bands, you won’t want to miss this one.

Perform Zorns Lemma

Burchfield Penney Art Center | 9pm | free

The M&T Second Friday series presents a night on The Front Yard @ The Center, paying tribute to film pioneer Hollis Frampton. The performance includes a three-panel projection of Frampton’s groundbreaking film, Zorns Lemma from 1970. The film will be accompanied by musical arrangements from two of Buffalo’s most innovative acts, Cages and Wooden Cities.

SAT 7/11 Insectival

Tifft Nature Preserve | 10am-2pm | $7

Tifft Nature preserve will present, Bug Out, the 5th Annual Insectival in the recently expanded Visitor Center and outdoors, on beautiful nature trails. The event will feature a variety of crafts, live animals, hands-on activities, refreshments and more.

The self-described “psychedelic/indie/art/rock” band Aircraft will be performing at Sugar City this Saturday night. Come see one of Buffalo’s most unique music projects hit it off with Gillian, Cooler, and Bryan Johnson & Family.
