Close to The Edgeby Jeffrey CzumMusic festivals have become as essential to summer in Buffalo as snow tires in winter; it’s just part of who we are. What makes Buffalo’s summer music festivals great is the beautiful weather and watching your favorite bands play in a truly unique setting—say, the Outer Harbor, the concert site for 103.3 radio’s Edge Fest 2015. |

Blue Jays Sizzle, Bisons Flounderby Andrew Kulyk and Peter FarrellRight about now, people in Toronto are over the moon with excitement about their Blue Jays. Since acquiring shortstop Troy Tulowitski and ace pitcher David Price, the team went 21-5 during the month of August. The team had at one time set the bar at qualifying for the playoffs and ending their 22 year post season drought, but now dream of an American League East pennant, a deep run into the postseason and a shot at a World Series title are now on many people’s minds. |

It's a Wrapby Jordan CanahaiThose who have been following the emerging film industry in Buffalo are well aware of the major strides that our city has made recently towards becoming an attractive and growing location for film production. As detailed in our last issue’s cover story, ten feature films have been shot in the area over the past year alone, thanks in part to new tax credits, lower production costs, and the high level of production quality offered by local filmmakers. |

2015 Ford C-MAX Energiby Jim CorbranThe first thing, yes, the very first thing I noticed after pressing the start button on my Ford C-MAX Energi test car (let’s just call it C-MAX from hereon) was the gauge on the far right of the instrument cluster which proudly announced “502 mi Range.” Wow! |

News of the Weirdby Chuck ShepherdA woman identified only as Zeng, age 39, was finally imprisoned in August in Urumqi, China—10 years after she was convicted of corruption. Availing herself of a traditional “probation” option in Chinese law for expectant mothers, Zeng had remained free by getting herself pregnant (and proving it) 14 times during the 10 years (although only some of the fetuses were carried to term). |

Free Will Astrologyby Rob BrezsnyVIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22): “I stand up next to a mountain, and I chop it down with the edge of my hand.” So sang Jimi Hendrix in his raucous psychedelic tune “Voodoo Child (Slight Return).” We could view his statement as an example of delusional grandiosity, and dismiss it as meaningless. |
