I remember when Goo Goo Dolls bassist and MiA founder Robby Takac invited my high school band to play the 3rd annual Music is Art festival back in 2004.

The experience was incredible.

2015 Fall Arts Art Harvest

by Peter Soscia

Some consider the natural beauty of fall foliage a work of art in its own way, and while there’s plenty of beauty to be found in the explosion of colors outside during the fall, inside, local art galleries are matching that beauty with the many exhibitions on display throughout the season.

Get Into the T.I.F.F.

by Jordan Canahai

The 40th annual Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) is set to commence this week, running from September 10th through the 20th. Did the FBI Try to Crush a Leftist Group with the Buffalo News' Help?

by George Sax

A number of pages from a vast secret file kept by the Federal Bureau of Investigation on a local leftist political activist, received by him through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit, indicate a years-long surveillance of his activities. And they raise the question of whether the bureau used the Buffalo News to thwart his organization’s lawful programs.

C'mon, Rex

by Dave Staba

Oh, Rex. You almost had me.

I even would have been OK with bringing Matt Cassel back. As your third-string quarterback, in case terrible things happen to new starter Tyrod Taylor and No. 2-for-a-week E.J. Manuel.

Tap This

From Farm to Pint

by Scott Russell

Step into a pub or brewery tap room during this year’s Buffalo Beer Week and you’ll likely spy a poster of a friendly farmer inviting you to raise a pint of fresh, cold, locally grown and crafted beer. Our thirsty farmer is heralding the availability of a relative rarity—truly local beer. Indigenous beer. That is, beer not only brewed locally, but crafted entirely with New York state grown grains and hops.

What's Brewing?

Presented by Consumer Beverages

by Willard Brooks, Chris Groves

As one of a handful of local breweries that hold a farm brewery license, Old First Ward makes an indigenous pale ale using 100 percent locally grown malts and hop called Therapy Session. This beer has been truly special since the first batch brewed two years ago for the first annual Farm to Pint event at Hamburg Brewing.

News of the Weird

by Chuck Shepherd

Artist Anish Kapoor initially denied that his 400 to 500 tons of stones, called “Dirty Corner,” were “problematic,” but later conceded that they might have “multiple interpretive possibilities.” The installation, which ran through the summer at France’s Palace of Versailles with five other large sculptures, was arranged in the form of a huge vulva, and represented, he said, “the vagina of a queen who is taking power.”
