UB Distinguished Speakers Series presents Grammy/Golden Globe/Academy Award-winning singer, songwriter, actor John Legend for an evening of Speaking, Q & A, and songs from the piano.

FRI 12/4 "LATE WITH LANCE"

Buffalo State Donald Savage Theater, 8 pm, pay-what-you-can

Actor/comedian Peter Michael Marino brings his 60-minute showbiz spoof, (starring as delusional cruise ship entertainer Lance) to Buffalo. If you can’t make the Friday night show, he’ll also be at Allen Street Hardware on Dec. 6 at 7pm.

FRI 12/4 GENKIN PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA

Pausa Art House, 8 pm, $5 & $7

The Genkin Philharmonic Orchestra, which is comprised of some of Buffalo’s finest musicians, will be rocking out on Friday night. Expect to hear tunes from Radiohead, Captain Beefheart, Led Zeppelin, King Crimson, Frank Zappa, and more.

SAT 12/5 COLD WAVE AT THE CAT CAVE

Mohawk Place, 8 pm, $5

DJs Collin Gabriel and Shurdo will be spinning post-punk, cold-wave, synth-pop and goth rock at this Saturday night’s dance and art event. Expect an eclectic array of international 80s-90s dance tunes, live art and unique works for sale. Donations will go to the SPCA.

SUN 12/6 WHITEHORSE

The Tralf, 7 pm, $15

Canadian husband and wife duo Luke Doucet and Melissa McClelland will be bringing their catchy, cool, folk-rock/electric blues style to the Tralf on Sunday night. Check them out.

WED 12/9 JOHNNY A

Sportsmen’s Tavern, 7 pm, $20/$25

Massachusetts-based expert guitarist and bandleader Johnny A will make an appearance next Wednesday at the Sportsmen’s Tavern. Playing a signature Gibson guitar, his sound ranges from elements of jazz and soul to Chet Atkins-styled country.
