Comedian, actor, and writer Josh Wolf will be appearing this weekend at Helium Comedy Club. Perhaps best known as a regular on E!’s Chelsea Lately, he was also on the fourth season as a finalist on NBC’s Last Comic Standing, and has worked as a writer for multiple sitcoms.

Fri 1/15 Jessy Carolina & The Holy Crow Jazz Band

Gypsy Parlon, 9pm

If you’re in the mood to hear some swinging, old school 1920s and 30s style jazz standards played to perfection, head out to Gypsy Parlor on Friday night to see NYC native Jessy Carolina with her brass and string band.

SAT 1/16 Prohibition Rebellion Party

Hot Mama’s Canteen, 7pm, $3

To celebrate (and thumb a nose) at the Day Prohibition began, Hot Mama’s will transform into a Speakeasy on Saturday night. Dress in Flapper attire, sample some fine Prohibition Era cocktails, and enjoy the live entertainment provided by Andrew Nixon, Luke Ciminelli Quintet and The Stripteasers.

SAT 1/16 Chae Hawk

Colored Musician’s Club, 8pm, $20

Buffalo born Progressive Rap Cinema Artist and founder of TeamRadio, Chae Hawk will be performing this Saturday night at the Colored Musician’s Club. He’ll be accompanied by full band Elephly and the show will feature Shane and Tone on turntables.

SAT 1/16 SÉANCE AT THE SANCTUARY

Dreamland, 7pm, $5

DJs Collin Gabriel and Dana Mcknight will be spinning post-punk, coldwave, synth-pop, gothic rock, bands Orations and Seaside Caves will be performing, and the fantastic artwork of Cari Feltz-Abdo, Kelly Kresconko, Catherine Price, and Hayley Safe will be on display.

WED 1/20 The Suitcase Junket

189 Public House, 8pm, $10

Matt Lorenz, a one-man traveling folk, rock, blues band from Vermont, will be in East Aurora Wednesday night. A unique experience to behold, Lorenz plays the guitar along with handmade/found/repurposed instruments made from saw blades, silverware, and suitcases.
