The Friends of Black Art have organized the first “Art for Art Auction” to raise funds for African American cultural organizations like the African American Cultural Center, the Langston Hughes Institute, Ujima Company, Inc. and Buffalo City Ballet. The auction will feature the work of local black artists including John Baker, Patricia Carter, Rev. William Cobb William Cooper, Valeria Cray-Dihaan, James Pappas, Betty Pitts-Foster, and William West. The fundraiser strives to provide funds to replace support lost from Erie County. The event takes place on Saturday, October 22 from 7 to 11 pm, at Steel Drums Restaurant,1410 Main Street. Tickets are $25 for an individual and $40 per couple. Tickets may be purchased by calling the Langston Hughes Institute at 884-3620, and include a champagne toast and Caribbean Buffet.
