Artists in Buffalo

“Artists in Buffalo Holiday Open Studios and Galleries” brings Buffalo to life this weekend with art enjoyment opportunities. This event is always festive and fun, and visiting artists in their studios is an unusual opportunity.

Bras Against Breast Cancer

This Friday evening, check out a fanciful fundraiser, ”BRAvo!” for “WomenStories,” a video project for women with breast cancer. The fundraiser features artworks in the fashion of bras by local artists that are auctioned off to the highest bidder. The BRAs are decadent and stylish, though they are not actually meant to be worn on the body, but enjoyed in your living room. The fundraiser is being held at the new home of Hauptman-Woodward Medical Research Institute, at 700 Ellicott Street in Buffalo, at 6-9pm on Friday, December 2. Tickets are $35 and are available at the door.

Skepticism & Critique

The Burchfield-Penney Art Center is currently showing four exhibitions that illustrate a variety of critiques created by artists in their work. Skepticism about elements of the world around them is the main subject for each of these artists’ exhibits currently on display. These exhibitions showcase the work of Charles Burchfield, Edward G. Bisone, Christy Rupp and Peter Sowiski.
