Two dozen performers from Pick of the Crop Dance, costumed by local designer Michele Costa (of Petites Choses/Small Things puppetry), will take the stage at the Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum in celebration of that grand romantic contraption, the carousel. Choreography by POC's artistic director Elaine Gardner and a soundtrack composed by music director Curt Steiznor combine in a dramatic yet whimsical presentation designed to conceptualize the qualities of these iconic, historical structures —of which the Herschell Museum's 1916 model is a nationally renowned specimen. This is a one-day only performance, on Sunday (Aug. 27), at 2pm. The project is part of a special "Sites Re-Seen" grant given by the Museum Program of the NY State Council on the Arts.
