The Whiskey Daredevils perform "Jesus Walks Beside Me"

Local fans of loud, outrageous roots rock became well acquainted with a charismatic Cleveland band called the Cowslingers, who built a loyal following from some legendary performances at Americanarama and a steady number of return visits to support various vinyl and CD releases. From the ashes of that band rose The Whiskey Daredevils, comprised of Cowslingers Leo P. Love on drums, Ken Miller on bass, and Greg Miller on vocals, joined by guitarists David Bowling (Hayshaker Jones) and Bobby Lanphier (Crooked Mile). While the new band maintains the demented evangelist delivery that Greg Miller is famous for, the overall sound is far from the barnyard camp cultivated by the ‘Slingers, moving instead into the realm of hi-octane, tube-top shakin’ rock. As Miller says “Speed and volume have always been our friends.” The Whiskey Daredevils will explode on the Mohawk Place stage after 11pm on Friday (Aug. 25), on a bill with Wolf Tickets.
