THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN ARM (1955)—One of Frank Sinatra’s best performances as an actor was here in Otto Preminger’s adaptation of Nelson Algren’s novel about a man’s slide into heroin addiction. Preminger removed Algren’s social conscience and leftist politics, retaining only the sensationalism. Still worth seeing for the performances by Sinatra, Eleanor Parker and Kim Novak. Fri 9:15 pm.
