Armed with radical leftist lyrics and a overpowering stage presence, singer/songwriter Bitch avoids the traps or the cliches that many others fall into. Although she has gained infamy from her appearance in the film Shortbus and working with legendary folk hero Ferron, she is best known as one half of Bitch & Animal, the off kilter duo signed to Ani DiFranco’s Righteous Babe label. After leaving Bitch & Animal she signed to Kill Rock Stars to release Make This/Break This, which is alternately confrotational, witty and heartfelt, sometimes all within the same song. Since then she has joined up with the Exciting Conclusion, a two piece that comes from the same school of thought that Bitch shares: That being classically trained doesn’t mean you can’t kick out the jams.
