Glamorous: The 10 Best-Dressed Women at the 2008 Arties

I was warned that the ladies were “working overtime” in preparation for this year’s “Arties” fashion-fest, but these girls had my head spinning like Linda Blair in The Exorcist.

Were those gold pailettes the size of jelly-jar lids on Kim Piazza? I swear I’m part magpie when it comes to my attraction to something shiny! Is that a buttercup-colored satin cape to the floor on the always-elegant Theresa Quinn? Susan Drozd and Kim Chadwick came in clouds of tulle that would make a Disney princess giddy. Multiple Artie nominee Eileen Dugan chose layers of taupe chiffon, while the always effervescent Loraine O’Donnell played peek-a-boo with pink ribbon trim and matching pearls. While I’m not always a fan of black dresses at these functions, Best Actress nominee Leah Schneider glowed in her ensemble.

Kerrykate Abel was there in dramatic black and white, and the Bat Boy’s girlfriend, Michelle Roberts, glimmered in raspberry chiffon over lame. Even members of the Artvoice family rose to the occasion; Caitlin Crowell peacocked in black chiffon and feathered chapeau.

The evening’s hostess, Lisa Ludwig, took home the Artie for Best Actress in a Musical, but not before putting on a fashion show of her own. I counted five, yes five, Jimmy Lee for Taglis gowns this year, my favorite being this Victorian-inspired red gown with an overlay of black tulle and jets…well, Hello Dolly!
