See You There	Artvoice BOOM Grand Championship by Buck Quigley

This one’s for all the marbles, if by “marbles” you mean $5,000 and bragging rights as the Artvoice.com Battle of Original Music (B.O.O.M.) Grand Champion. Over the past year, hundreds of bands have entered our online music contest by sending in a brief questionnaire, a photo and a digital recording of an original song. Among those contestants, 54 bands were chosen to compete in four separate rounds. Each week, local music fans read two band bios in the print version of Artvoice. Thousands then visited Artvoice.com where they could hear songs and vote for their favorite act. At the end of each round, four bands met in a live showdown where each audience member was given a single ballot to cast for the act of his or her choice. Dali’s Ghost took the first live quarterfinal, followed by Constant Climax in the second, London vs. New York in the third, and Fresh Guac in our fourth. It’s these four bands that will be vying for the right to be called the Grand Champion of BOOM and walk away with a $5,000 payday for half-an-hour’s work. (Well, musicians know there’s a lot more work to it than just the time spent on stage, but come on, this is hype.) The only way they can do that is to get out the vote. Ballots will be collected until all four bands have played, and when those are counted, the band with the most votes wins. Rounding out the bill will be a fifth act—Lisa Rose—who was chosen as a runner-up by popular vote from the many performers who entered over the course of the year at Artvoice.com.
