David Lee & His Mercenaries (Sunday, July 27)

For the past few years, guitarist David Lee was responsible for part of the backwoods hellraising sound of Th’ Legendary Shack Shakers. Sliding between country, rockabilly, blues, punk, and hardcore, Lee’s guitar playing transcended boundaries, giving the Shack Shakers an almost undefinable sound. However, in the past few months, Lee has parted ways with the band and is now fronting his own three piece, David Lee & His Mercenaries. Although the band is brand new and just starting their own mini tour of the Northeast, Lee promises something of a menacing sound along the lines of Charlie Feathers meets Mastodon. With such a description, the band is likely to build on the sound Lee forged with his former band. David Lee & His Mercenaries perform at Mohawk Place on Sunday (July 27) at 8pm. Liquid Violence and Rochester rockabilly band 40 Rod Lightning open the show.
