FULL MOON FETISH: A Night of Freaks, Food & Fugue
Luna, the Latin word for the moon, is the root of our word lunatic. Make of that what you will, but lunar lore suggests that the full moon is responsible for everything from the ovulation patterns of herbivores to a pronounced spike in admissions to psychiatric hospitals. The full moon is also, of course, responsible for tidal activity, as well as the key trigger that turns some of us into werewolves. Sounds like a party, and that’s exactly what the “Full Moon Fetish” will be. A long list of musical acts including the Genuflektors (pictured), the Headless Horntails, Rachel Anna & the South Mountain Drifters, the Manipulators, It’s Like Going on Vacation For a Day, the Bear, and the Golden Calves will all be on hand to lead celebrants through the reverie. Other highlights will include a spoken word performance by Zev, a video presentation by Pam Swartz, and a tasteful burlesque performance by the ever-popular Stripteasers. If that’s not enough to send you over the edge, consider the added bonus of free New Orleans cuisine, courtesy of Lagniappes. Howling at the moon is optional, but strongly encouraged.
