(She is now professor emeritus.) Artie Awards on Monday

The 19th Annual Artie Awards will be held at the Town Ballroom on Monday, June 1. The doors will open at 7pm and the show begins at 8pm. A $10 donation is collected at the door, which is contributed, along with the proceeds from red ribbon sales at participating theaters, to Benedict House at the end of the evening.

The New Waterboarding: In April, the district attorney in Vilas County, Wis., announced that he was seeking volunteers for a forensic test to help his case against Douglas Plude, 42, who is scheduled to stand trial soon for the second time in the death of his wife. The volunteers must be female, about 5-feet-8 and 140 pounds, and will have to stick their heads into a toilet bowl and flush.
