IDA Reform Now

I’m a single mother of two children, and a member of PUSH Buffalo, located in the West Side of Buffalo. People in my neighborhood and across the city are struggling to find good jobs and support their families. I too understand this struggle firsthand. Our neighborhood needs economic development that prioritizes people over profit.

Metrorail: A Planner's Notes

MetroRail definitely needs to be expanded. The current line needs to be extended to Williamsville under Main Street and I-290 (the current line was built under the Scajacquada Expressway) with stations that fit with existing surrounding buildings in Amherst and Williamsville. As well, a line needs to go from the LaSalle Station to from the proposed to UB North Campus and the Tonawandas and then Niagara Falls and its renovated airport.

GM "Dumps" Saab

The public relations execs at GM seem to have decided that General Motors is not just selling the Swedish auto maker SAAB, they are “dumping” SAAB. This is a cheap attempt to save face by implying that they must rid themselves of the offending matter. Even so, perhaps “dumping” is a more accurate description of GM’s relationship to SAAB than their public relations execs had intended. Consider that to “dump” one must take a thing of nourishment or benefit, crush it, run it through their system to extract all of its value, then abruptly evacuate the spent matter. That’s what GM did to SAAB, so I guess they really are “dumping.” Thankfully, Koenigsegg and SAAB are now unfettered to take their “dump” and turn it into a world-class automobile company that will in all likelihood, be a serious future contender in the US car market.
