Round 2, Week 2: N3wt vs. Fashion Expo 1990

The action was fast and furious last week, and when all the votes were tabulated we arrived at a winner. CONGRATULATIONS to the Nepenthe! With that, they win a spot on our next live showdown at Nietzsche’s on Friday, February 13. This week, we veer away from the standard guitar, bass, and drum powered acts and take a trip into electronica with N3WT and Fashion Expo 1990.

Of course, bands are encouraged to get out the vote any way they can short of stuffing the ballot box. Our IT guy is very savvy, and he’ll be monitoring the votes more closely than an election lawyer in Ohio. If you’re caught cheating, you can be disqualified. And there’s nowhere to appeal our decision.

Musicians, there’s still time to enter BOOM, even if you’ve entered before. Click here to find out how your band can enter the fray.

The rewards for the winners are great. They will receive a recording package from Audio Magic, and 100 CDs of that recording from ESP CD & DVD Manufacturing. The four winners of our live quarterfinals will face off in our Grand Finale in May. The winner that night will win a slot on WBFO’s Wednesday night concerts live from Allen Hall, a video produced by Artvoice, and a nice cash prize as well.

We’re happy to present this contest with the help of our great sponsors below. They all play a vital role in making our town a hotspot of original music. But we can’t make msic without u. Visit Artvoice.com and vote. And may the best band win.

Voting is closed for this week;

List of recorded releases: Hello my name is N3wT (2002), Featured on FTS records compilation CD, Feeding Time

Best show ever played: I played at a festival north of Toronto, ON called Teknival with a few other local acts. DIY stages set up for over a mile stretch, I had to have played over 10 times on various stages in the 3 days we were there. It was a great experience.

Worst show ever played: I brought in Larvae from Atlanta to play Tilt in Rochester, and there were only a few people there, there wasnt enough room for my equipment behind the Dj booth, so I didnt use it all...and I just played a bad set and wasnt into it.

Why you should win the Artvoice.com Online Battle of Original Music: Ive been pushing live electronic music in Buffalo for a long time and feel as if there is very little recognition to the electronic music scene in Buffalo. Id like to put a foot forward and see where it could go.
