Poetry

for the uranian ptolemy

You are

like your earthly counterpart

very close

you and

the nearest star’s

eight satellites

like your own

swing themselves a-

round

your own

equatorial planes,

which

remain

until reversal

by fate and

your nemesis

certain

that the universe or something

revolves around

your home planet

having

its own moons

two of which

cross the

orbits of

other moons and those

discoveries

will

as defined

challenge

the arrival of

the Uranian Copernicus

—jerome joseph gentes
