December 10 is Human Rights Day. That is because the United Nations’ Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on December 10, 1948. The Commission on Human Rights began its work in January 1947 under the chairpersonship of Eleanor Roosevelt. In 30 articles, the Declaration sets forth basic rights and fundamental freedoms, to which all human beings everywhere in the world are entitled without any discrimination.
