PRISM: One Community, Many Perspectives

Art has always played a central role in LGBT culture and life. As a community, LGBT people tend to have a penchant for the arts. This is why in 2007, the Pride Center of Western New York began producing its annual art show featuring the best in local LGBT artists in a one-of-a-kind show. “PRISM: One Community, Many Perspectives” attempts to bring the region’s LGBT community together to enjoy works by emerging and established local LGBT artists and to raise awareness of LGBT issues and the many perspectives and voices within WNY’s LGBT community.

Shows like this allow for LGBT artists to make a statement about living an honest and open life, both personally and professionally, while taking the time to give back to their community and raise awareness of the issues facing LGBT people.

This year’s event is part of a multi-exhibit opening at CEPA that includes its’ annual member show, “Echo Utopias” by Penelope Stuart, “Memory Mapping” by Sue O’Donnell, and the Reclaiming Buffalo and International Video programs.
