	In my role as board member and chair of Buffalo First, I see how independent and locally based businesses have the power to grow and develop our region. A dollar spent here has three times the economic impact if spent in a locally based business. This means more money stays in the Buffalo-Niagara region. While Buffalo First continues to encourage residents to “Think Local First” when they shop, it is equally important for us to call on local institutions such as schools, hospitals, and local government to do the same.
