Sacred Paws join the Merge family and share single “Brush Your Hair”

Today, Sacred Paws announce and share “Brush Your Hair,” their latest single and—surprise!—first for Merge in North America (Rock Action for rest of world). In true Sacred Paws style, it’s an infectiously fun track filled with intricately jangly guitars and an exuberant drum pattern paired with nostalgic lyrics sung by both of the project’s members, Rachel Aggs and Eilidh Rodgers. “Brush Your Hair” is the first taste of what’s to come from Sacred Paws in 2019.

Based in Glasgow, Sacred Paws formed in 2014 when guitarist Rachel Aggs (also a member of Shopping and Trash Kit) and drummer Eilidh Rodgers’ former group Golden Grrrls disbanded. Their debut album Strike a Match is a collection of ten complex yet instantly catchy songs, described by Pitchfork as “…tightly-wound art punk [that] unspools their anxiety and turns it into something worth celebrating.” The record was named 2017’s Scottish Album of the Year, beating the likes of Mogwai, Honeyblood, Pictish Trail, and C Duncan to the title.

A vibrant collection of pop gems, Strike a Match also received an abundance of incredible reviews from the likes of Q, DIY, Clash, Loud & Quiet, The Skinny, and more, and was named Album of Day by BBC Radio 6 Music around its release.
