Nordic Impressions: Contemporary Art from Åland, Denmark, Finland, Greenland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden opens to the public, in a new exhibition that brings together a wide array of artistic expressions—paintings, drawings, photographs, installations, films, and videos—featuring internationally acclaimed artists working throughout the Nordic region, that reflect the rich diversity and global character of Nordic art.

In coordination with the opening, Scandinavia House presents Digital Dynamics In Nordic Contemporary Art from 1:30 to 4 PM, a book talk and interactive performance.Tanya Toft Ag joins us to discuss her new book Digital Dynamics in Nordic Contemporary Art (Intellect, 2019), which looks at digital influences on contemporary art, with particular attention paid to the national and international Nordic socio-political context. Also at the event, Swedish artists Lundahl & Seitl present the participatory performance Unknown Cloud On Its Way To…, a nomadic and immersive audio experience that connects audience participants here to those at various locations in the Nordic region using a free Unknown Cloud Caretaker smartphone app.
Nordic Impressions continues through Saturday, June 8, 2019 with other programming including an Armory Week panel, art workshops, and more.
