The Puerto Rican singer-songwriter, producer and actor Draco Rosa released “Tu Lado Oscuro” on Friday, one of the most striking music videos of his career.
The short film represents the third chapter of his series of animated videos that debuted in October 2018 with “333” and continued with “Dentro De Tí”.
Combining futuristic elements of psychedelia, science fiction, steampunk and more, these videos have conjured up an engrossing world filled with mystery, danger, sex, death, symbolism and music.
“Tu Lado Oscuro” is included on Monte Sagrado, the most recent album by Draco Rosa. Rolling Stone praised it as “One of the (most) honest records you will hear this year – at any volume, in any language.” This record made it to #1 on the “Latin Pop Albums” chart published by Billboard, which also named it the fourth best Latin album of 2018.
Directed by his son Redamo Rosa and based on a universe conceived by his son Revel Rosa, this video and the others in the series feature the spellbinding animation work of the cutting-edge Colombian company Sharpball.
Among bold electric-guitar riffs, the powerful vocals of Draco Rosa, lyrics that describe a carnal love, and the searing images of the video, “Tu Lado Oscuro” envelops us in an immersive experience akin to the greatest productions of the golden age of classic-rock LPs.
One of the most versatile and unpredictable talents of his generation, Draco Rosa shares his artistic vision with us in the most uncompromising way possible.
This past Sunday, Draco Rosa performed in Mexico City as part of the Vive Latino festival.
During June, he will tour the United States.
