Who Are You Betting Will Win A Grammy?

Cardi B has taken the 2019 Billboard Music Awards by storm with 21 nominations in 18 categories including top artist, top female and top Billboard 200 album for her “Invasion of Privacy,” which also garnered a Grammy Award.

Are you Okurr with that?

Drake and Post Malone are on the “I Like It” singer’s heels with 17 nominations each. Together they are vying for top artist against Cardi B, Ariana Grande and Travis Scott.

Expect different sports betting sites to lay odds on who will take home the top prizes. Recording superstar and first “American Idol,” Kelly Clarkson, will host the awards airing May 1 on NBC.

Nominees and winners for the Billboard Awards are based on sales of albums and songs, streaming, radio airplay, touring and social engagement. The awards are based on the chart period of March 23, 2018, through March 7, 2019.

With years of criticism in the industry about rap not getting its due, well, it’s time may have finally come. Rap has dominated streaming services and the music charts and is represented in the top album category.

Competing for the prizes is Cardi B’s “Invasion of Privacy,” Scott’s “ASTROWORLD,” Drake’s “Scorpion,” Post Malone’s “beerbongs & Bentleys” and the late XXXTentacion’s “?.”

In the top Hot 100 Song category, Cardi B’s “I Like It” is competing with “Lucid Dreams” (Juice Wrld), “SICKO MODE” (Travis Scott), “Better Now” (Post Malone) and “Girls Like You” (Maroon 5 with Cardi B).

XXXTentacion was nominated for 10 awards. The 20-year-old rap star was fatally shot leaving a motorcycle dealership in Deerfield Beach, Fla. last June. Four people have been charged in the slaying.

Others in the running for awards:

  • The Queen of Soul, the late Aretha Franklin who died in August was nominated for her gospel album “Gospel Greats.”

  • Queen, who found new fans and satisfied veteran fans in “Bohemian Rhapsody,” the Freddie Mercury biopic that earned star Rami Malek an acting Oscar, was nominated as top rock artist and soundtrack.

  • Snoop Dogg also was nominated in the top gospel category for his release, “Snoop Dogg Presents Bible of Love.”

  • In the top tour category, U2, Elton John and The Rolling Stones are all vying for the award, as is Taylor Swift who also is nominated as top female artist. Swift has won the most Billboard Awards at 23.

Mariah Carey, who has had more No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 chart also will be honored during the awards broadcast being honored with the Icon Award. Seems befitting.

She also will perform during the program that will be held in Las Vegas.

Among her 18 No. 1 hits are “Honey,” “Hero,” “We Belong Together,” and, of course, “Vision of Love.”

The song “One Sweet Day” that Carey performed with Boyz II Men was the longest-running No. 1 hit on the Hot 100 Chart – 16 weeks. “Despacito” by Luis Fonsi tied that record in 2017.

This past week it was announced who beyond Carey and Clarkson would be performing and the list is as hot as the songs on the Hot 100. Performing are Lauren Daigel, Khalid, Panic! At the Disco, Sam Smith and Normani.

Add to that list the biggest thing to come out of Korea, boy band BTS, who will perform “Boy With Luv” with Halsey. Not that you’ll be able to hear it from all the screaming girls in the audience that will surely drown out whatever they are saying.

There are more than 50 categories, expect odds on sportsbooks in short order it a few – but not all – of the categories.

Here are a few to consider:

Top Artist: Cardi B, Drake, Ariana Grande, Post Malone, Travis Scott Our Pick: Cardi B. Hard to believe she won’t take this home.

Top New Artist: Bazzi, Juice Wrld, Lil Baby, Dua Lipa, Ella Mai Our Pick: Dua Lipa took home the Grammy, she certainly is the one to beat here.

Top Male Artist: Drake, Post Malone, Travis Scott, Ed Sheeran, XXXTentacion Our Pick: Travis Scott is having a year but never count out Drake

Top Female Artist: Cardi B, Ariana Grande, Halsey, Ella Mai, Taylor Swift Our Pick: Cardi B – again.

Top Duo/Group: BTS, Dan + Shay, Imagine Dragons, Maroon 5, Panic! At The Disco Our Pick: A fight between BTS and Dan + Shay .. sorry Maroon 5, that Super Bowl appearance didn’t help.

Top Billboard 200 Album: Cardi B “Invasion of Privacy”; Drake “Scorpion”; Post Malone “beerbongs & bentleys”; Travis Scott “ASTROWORLD”; XXXTentacion “?” Our Pick: Tough pick, but we’re leaning toward “Invasion of Privacy” over “ASTROWORLD”
