Hey Buffalo reading friends.
Please consider a donation for this great endeavor from two great Buffalo institutions– Say Yes Buffalo and Talking Leaves Books–while supporting an incredibly important group in our city: our graduating seniors in high school.

Please donate to the Book It 2020 fund at Say Yes Buffalo.  Every dollar donated will be used to buy $25 gift certificates at Talking Leaves for graduating Buffalo students whom Say Yes is assisting to attend college next fall.

Talking Leaves is more than a store.  Since 1971 it has played a crucial role in Buffalo’s thriving literary scene: supporting local writers, bringing national talents to town, and amplifying voices too often left out by corporate bookselling.  Owners Martha Russell and Jonathon Welch, along with their expert and gracious staff, led by Lucy Kogler and Alicia Michielli, have dedicated their lives to enriching our community.  Buffalo cannot do without Talking Leaves!

(By the way, don’t forget that Talking Leaves remains open for shopping via its website; you can also support the store by ordering books and gift certificates for yourself and others; they ship everywhere).

Say Yes is one of the great Buffalo stories.  Since launching in 2011, it has awarded college scholarships to more than 5,000 Buffalo public school students. Say Yes also provides in-school support services, mentoring, afterschool and summer camps, and it continues to aid students once they reach college to make sure that they succeed.

Imagine the joy of the recent graduate visiting Talking Leaves to pick out a book, and imagine the joy of Talking Leaves, once it reopens, as a new young customer enters the store.
