Shalom Maidenbaum, co-founder of Maidenbaum Property Tax Reduction Group, has dedicated much of his career to ensuring that homeowners across Nassau County pay fair property taxes. His work empowers families from all income levels to challenge inaccurate tax assessments, potentially saving them hundreds or thousands of dollars that can be redirected toward everyday needs such as groceries, education, and healthcare. Maidenbaum’s efforts to promote property tax fairness are grounded in his belief that this is not a privilege reserved for the wealthy but a right for every homeowner.

Maidenbaum’s property tax reduction work aligns with his commitment to helping families secure financial stability, regardless of their economic background. By helping homeowners challenge inflated tax assessments, his firm plays a crucial role in reducing the financial burden many families face. These savings can significantly impact families struggling to make ends meet, providing them with the financial freedom to afford essential needs.

Beyond his professional work, Shalom Maidenbaum has made a significant impact through his philanthropy. Together with his wife, Iris, he has supported various charitable causes, particularly those that resonate with his deep sense of community and kindness. One of their most notable contributions was to Mount Sinai South Nassau, where the couple funded the creation of the Maidenbaum Health Care Heroes Plaza, a tribute to healthcare workers who demonstrated courage and dedication during the COVID-19 pandemic. This 10,000-square-foot park in Oceanside, New York, serves as a place of solace and reflection for patients, staff, and visitors, honoring the selflessness of the medical professionals who cared for over 15,000 COVID-19 patients.

“We are honored to support Mount Sinai South Nassau and create a place where staff, patients, and visitors can find solace and reflection,” Shalom Maidenbaum expressed during the dedication. The plaza, featuring personalized pavers and benches, stands as a lasting tribute to the hospital’s heroic healthcare workers. Through their significant gift, the Maidenbaums not only memorialized these heroes but also helped expand the hospital’s specialty care services for local residents.

The Maidenbaums’ generosity extends beyond the healthcare sector. Their philanthropy also includes their support for United Hatzalah, an organization that provides emergency medical response in Israel. The couple has donated funds to purchase three ambucycles, one of which was dedicated in memory of Iris’s father, Bernard Lanner. Shalom has expressed deep admiration for United Hatzalah’s ability to unite people across religious and political divides to save lives.

In another act of kindness and commitment to their community, Shalom and Iris Maidenbaum helped refurbish the Sabbath House near Mount Sinai South Nassau. This house offers comfort and convenience for observant Jewish families visiting loved ones in the hospital, with amenities such as a kosher kitchen, living room, and sleeping accommodations, ensuring that those observing Shabbat can be close to their hospitalized relatives.

In addition to their healthcare and religious community contributions, Shalom’s firm has been committed to supporting people with disabilities. Through their “From the Community, For the Community” initiative, the firm provided much-needed financial support to 15 Nassau County-based nonprofits, each receiving a $5,000 grant. These grants, distributed in partnership with the Disability Opportunity Fund, support a wide range of services for individuals with disabilities, ensuring greater accessibility and inclusion.

Maidenbaum’s philanthropic efforts are grounded in a desire to help individuals and families thrive. The Maidenbaum firm’s property tax reduction work, coupled with its charitable initiatives, demonstrates an unwavering commitment to supporting communities in tangible ways. Whether it is through helping families reduce their tax burdens or donating to organizations that provide essential services, Shalom Maidenbaum and the Maidenbaum firm continues to embody the spirit of kindness, generosity, and civic responsibility.
