The Bad Plus- bassist Reid Anderson, pianist Ethan Iverson, and drummer David King- have a well earned reputation for pushing the limits on what is expected of a piano-bass-drums trio. The genre-smashing band performs original inventive compositions and covers of artists as divergent as Nirvana, Neil Young, Ornette Coleman and Igor Stravinsky. In 2011, The Bad Plus invited Tenor Saxophonist Superstar Joshua Redman to perform at the Blue Note and proceeded to raise the roof. Joshua Redman is the son of Avant Garde saxophone legend Dewey Redman. Redman says “Playing with Bad Plus has allowed me to explore a part of my playing, and my musical heritage, that I’ve never before accessed with any other group.” Head to Rockwell Hall and see one of the most audacious and imaginative musical collectives in Jazz.
